Project Five: Stock Market Project

In FASH250: Concepts of Fashion Industry, the Stock Market Project’s main objective was to select a fashion company to learn about and follow the stock price for two five-week time periods. The paper was required to include an introduction, history of the company, review of senior leadership, annual report challenges and opportunities and stock performance including a table of the opening and closing stock prices of each day from the assigned time frames.

Skills

  • Company Research

  • Stock Research

  • Brand Alignment

  • Stock Market Analysis

  • Industry Research

  • Data Visualization

Process

The first five-week period was in 2020 and the second in 2023, to compare from pandemic era to post pandemic stock prices for Levi’s. I took note of the prices for each week placing them in a chart then converting it to a visual graph. For the company research, I provided overview of the background, discussed the now former CEO Charles “Chip” V. Bergh and other notable C-suites. In my summary I explained the stock numbers, how COVID-19 affected their stocks, and why they were doing well in 2023. I also mentioned the fact that cotton prices were dropping from a previous rise due to a drought, and predicted a continuation of their stock cost rise going forward in the next year.

Outcome

This was an interesting project to do as it wasn’t something I have ever typically worked on. I was able to learn more about Levis’ as a company, who runs it, and their roles. Watching the opening and closing stock prices was very insightful especially comparing 2020 to 2023. It helped me further understand what influences whether they rise or fall, and allowed me to make predictions about the future.
